‘Before Landing’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. Before Landing carries a very emotional theme throughout the album. While no new Alan Stivell album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1977 tour in Australia. If I may, I suggest “The Ancient Celts-Ar Gelted Kozh”. That one song is amazing!
I have all of Alan Stivell’s tracks and The Bretons In Britain is probably the most his introspective effort. Britons Exile To Armorica catches attention immediately, The Breton Kingdom-Rouantelezh Vreizh as a highlight of Before Landing contains a ton of amazing melodies. The Breton Duchy-Dugelezh Vreizh is the most memorable and cool. The Union Pact is a striking and quite long song. Revolts-Emsawadegou - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody. The French Revolution and The 19Th Century is a song you cannot help but think about at odd moments in your day. After about the third 20Th Century - Part One listen through, I began to believe this song is Alan Stivell’s essence. This is the kind of song I think of when I think of Alan Stivell. Alan Stivell sings his heart out in To Ewan My Son - Da Ewan. Dead For His People (To Yann Kel)-Marw Ewid E Fobl is a great song for a cosy night in when it’s cold and wintry outside. This is probably my favorite song on the album. Nine Bretons In Jail-Naw Breton ‘ba’ Prizon gives taste of what makes Alan Stivell special as a musician. Get Before Landing and turn on New Middle Part-Tamm-Kreiz New’ if you are going to sip your wine late at night. I like the idea behind Plinn - Slogan.
