Lead single “The Wind Of Keltia” and “An Dro” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. On Olympia Concert album, Alan Stivell have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. ‘Olympia Concert’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. If you love Alan Stivell as much as I do, then Alan Stivell Olympia Concert is the CD for you!
Alan Stivell rocks harder than ever with An Dro. The Trees They Grow High stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. An Alarc’h is worth the money. An Durzhunel is a song to savor, to listen to from every angle. Telenn Gwad The Foggy Dew is simple, dignified and effective, Alan Stivell refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. Pop Plinn is a excellent, simple song by Alan Stivell at the top of his game. Tha Mi Sgith - My least favorite song on this album. The King Of The Fairies - This is a very lively song. One listen to the sheer beauty of Tri Martolod was all I needed. Kost Ar C’hoad is a song to enjoy for years to come. Outside of the singles, my favorite song on Olympia Concert is Suite Sudarmoricaine.
