There is no doubt that Alan Stivell has talent. seven years ago, Alan Stivell briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Marv Pontkalleg”. Alan Stivell’s debut, ‘Renaissance Of The Celtic Harp’, does not fit easily into one genre. This is what good Celtic should be.
Once Marv Pontkalleg gets in your head, it will NEVER leave. Extracts From Penllyn Manuscript Of Harp Music is another favourite of mine. Eliz Iza is possibly the best song Alan Stivell has come up. This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor.
