This album has some very good songs like Beaj and Gwerz I. Self-described as Celtic with lots of words, Alan Stivell comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. On Symphonie Celtique - Tir Na N-Og album, Alan Stivell have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. Symphonie Celtique - Tir Na N-Og is the best essence of Alan Stivell.
Gwerz I is a fine track on any terms. Loc’h Ar Goulen - My least favorite song on this album. Divodan is a great song for a cosy night in when it’s cold and wintry outside. In Emskiant it becomes nowhere more obvious that Alan Stivell has yet to define own style. This track makes my mind whirl and vibrate with flowing energy. So much energy, so exciting a sound.Dilestran is filled with very deep emotions that will truly touch your heart. Ar C’hammou Kentan is the albums biggest surprise. I can’t stop playing Ar Geoded Skedus. Music in Ar Bale is cool as in all tracks of Symphonie Celtique - Tir Na N-Og. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Gouel Hollvedel (I), which shows, blatantly, how much Alan Stivell has evolved as a singer. After about the third Gouel Hollvedel (Ii) listen through, I began to believe this song is Alan Stivell’s essence. I believe Gouel Hollvedel (Iii) is one of the most amazing, heartfelt songs ever written. Gouel Hollvedel (Iv) - Okay, I just talked about depth. This is one of those songs that musicians strive to write and create.
