It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of April Wine energies, virtually a rebirth. While no new April Wine album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1982 tour in Asia. Power Play isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. I Love Power Play from start to finish!
Such hits like Enough Is Enough will leave you hooked. If You See Kay is probably the most interesting track on Power Play. The song feels complete. This track, in particular, has the kind of undeniably catchy flavor. Do In It Right sets the tone for the entire album. The opening track Ain’t Got Your Love is very much like you would expect from other albums. Blood Money is a song that takes you on the journey before it reaches the conclusion. This is one of those songs that musicians strive to write and create. April Wine is hitting on all cylinders in Runners In The Night.
