nine years ago, Ashra briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Mistral”. Lead single “Code Blue” and “Mistral” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Since Ashra last CD (Belle Alliance) on Capitol Records back in 1980, I have felt a massive void in my life. If I may, I suggest “Code Blue”. That one song is amazing!
The first time I listened to Mistral I was struck by its marvelous sound. Kazoo was the first single release from the album Belle Alliance. Aerogen is, without a doubt, my favorite song, ever. Sausalito is a strong cut, one of many. I like Screamer because it’s extremely catchy and has awesome drumming. Boomerang is perfect. This track is nearly perfect if not perfect.
