Since Ashra last CD (Blackouts) on Blue Note Records back in 1977, I have felt a massive void in my life. This album has some very good songs like Lotus Parts I-Iv and Shuttle Cocks. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Ashra on ‘Lotus Parts I-Iv’. To me Ashra is the best band ever.
Once Shuttle Cocks gets in your head, it will NEVER leave. Blackouts make listening to Ashra like being in some sort of time warp. Midnight On Mars the elegant and beautiful song on the album is hard to describe. I hope to keep hearing Ashra works for a long time to come. Song 77 Slightly Delayed is actually a funny song.
