This is the first studio album from Astral Navigations since bad diagnosis in 1971. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Astral Navigations on ‘Fourth Coming Lightyears Away’. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Astral Navigations energies, virtually a rebirth. This album is a scorcher!
First time I heard Path Of Stone Lightyears Away was on radio driving in my car and sonically it just sounded amazing. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. Yesterday Lightyears Away is a very catchy tune. This is the kind of song I think of when I think of Astral Navigations. Within the first few notes of Tomorrow Buffalo Lightyears Away it’s perfectly clear that Astral Navigations is living this song. Someday Thundermother make listening to Astral Navigations like being in some sort of time warp. Voice of Astral Navigations in Country Lines Thundermother is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. It’s also one of those rare songs that touchingly comfort the listener. Rock Me Babe Thundermother is one of the coolest songs Astral Navigations has ever recorded. No Astral Navigations song has come close to capturing my attention as Come On Home Thundermother did.
