After seeing The Girl From Ipanema, I had to have a good Astrud Gilberto cd. Getz/Gilberto isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. There is no doubt that Astrud Gilberto has talent. Astrud Gilberto “Getz/Gilberto” is an amazing album.
Doralice is a song to savor, to listen to from every angle. Para Machuchar Meu Coracao is a song to enjoy for years to come. Desafinado (Off Key) is a very catchy tune. In Corcovado (Quiet Nights Of Quiet Stars) the music gets its power. I was truly moved when I heard So Danco Samba. Some call O Grande Amor from Getz/Gilberto as a quiet invitation of an artist to sit and listen. Vivo Sonhando (Dreamer) is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. The Girl From Ipanema - 45 RPM Issue - A catchy, upbeat tune. I like to sing along with Corcovado (Quiet Nights Of Quiet Stars) - 45 RPM Issue, though I mess up the lyrics sometimes.
