After debuting at No. 1 last week, Bach, Johann Sebastian’s album BWV 76 falls to No. 2 with 746,000, a sales slide of 64%. There is so much to love about Bach, Johann Sebastian, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. When you buy a Bach, Johann Sebastian album, you know exactly what you’re getting! BWV 76 touched my soul like nothing else.
Recitativo (Tenore): “So laesst sich Gott nicht unbezeuget!” (Concentus musicus Wien) is a bit of a show-tune. Aria (Soprano): “Hoert, ihr Voelker” (Concentus musicus Wien) is the albums biggest surprise. It took me a little time but I ended up loving Recitativo (Basso): “Wer aber hoert” (Concentus musicus Wien). Aria (Basso): “Fahr hin, abgoettische Zunft!” (Concentus musicus Wien) - A strong beat. I can’t stop playing Recitativo (Alto): “Du hast uns, Herr, von allen Strassen” (Concentus musicus Wien). Blew our minds when we first heard Choral (Coro): “Es woll uns Gott genaedig sein” (Concentus musicus Wien). This track, in particular, has the kind of undeniably catchy flavor. Recitativo (Basso): “Gott segne noch die treue Schar” (Concentus musicus Wien) is a gorgeous, simple song by Bach, Johann Sebastian at the top of his game. The opening track Aria (Tenore): “Hasse nur, hasse mich recht” (Concentus musicus Wien) is very much like you would expect from other albums. Album opener Recitativo (Alto): “Ich fuehle schon im Geist” (Concentus musicus Wien) is a bright, upbeat ditty. It’s so catchy, it’s amazing. I listened to the opening track Recitativo (Tenore): “So soll die Christenheit” (Concentus musicus Wien) and liked it a lot. It’s also one of those rare songs that touchingly comfort the listener.
