Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Bill Evans on ‘Gloria’s Steop’. This eleven-song debut EP shows the promise that Bill Evans has. It has been three years Bill Evans’ last studio CD, “Sunday at the Village Vanguard” which won Array Grammy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. Sunday at the Village Vanguard is preety good and all the songs have a good meaning behind them.
My Man’s Gone Now is the more seemingly obscure song on Sunday at the Village Vanguard that bear up best to repeated listening. Listening to Solar you can hear that Bill Evans has still amazing chemistry with band members. Alice In Wonderland is a bit different from Bill Evans stereotypical stuff. After you’ve listened to All Of You, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. Bill Evans sings Jade Visions in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. Gloria’s Step is maybe the best thing the group’s ever done. Alice In Wonderland had me crying as I was able to relate so well. Voice and instruments in All Of You complement each other. Jade Visions one of the most beautiful songs i’ve ever heard.
