Now signed to Blues - Various Artists’s Capitol Records, the title track from second album “Eddie Burns - Chess Blues (1960-1967) - CD4″ leads Blues - Various Artists’s back-to-school campaign. IF YOU LIKE ALL Blues - Various Artists’S SONG GO FOR IT! While no new Blues - Various Artists album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1960 tour in Europe. If I may, I suggest “Good Moanin’ Blues (Walter Horton)”. That one song is amazing!
The song feels complete. Nine Below Zero (Sonny Boy Williamson) is the albums lead single as well as biggest hit. Bring It On Home (Sonny Boy Williamson) has to be one of the most beautiful tracks on the entire album. That’s Why I Don’t Mind (Muddy Waters) sets the tone for the entire album. It’s very catchy and easy to get into which is what you want in a song. One listen to the sheer beauty of The Shakedown (Lloyd Glenn) was all I needed. Put We’re Gonna Make It (Little Milton) into car stereo for your highway driving This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot. Dirty Work Goin’ On (Little Joe Blue) is a very good song maybe surprisingly better than you at first might’ve imagined. The first time I listened to What Kind Of Man Is That- (Koko Taylor) I was struck by its astounding sound. Wang Dang Doodle (Koko Taylor) is the cool blend of moody yet optimistic tunes. One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer (John Lee Hooker) is an incredible song that has everything it needs to be another favorite track. In The Red Rooster (Howlin’ Wolf) it becomes nowhere more obvious that Blues - Various Artists has yet to define own style. Still going through Eddie Burns - Chess Blues (1960-1967) - CD4 and coming to appreciate Killing Floor (Howlin’ Wolf) more and more with every listen. Goin’ Down Slow (Howlin’ Wolf) - Blues - Various Artists first major hit. This track is clearly meant to showcase Blues - Various Artists’s vocal abilities. This track is just a stunning masterpiece. I’d Rather Go Blind (Etta James) - Okay, I just talked about depth. Music of The Sun Is Shining (alternate; Elmore James) is gentle, never overbearing. Jinglin’ Baby (Eddie Burns) is one of the coolest songs Blues - Various Artists has ever recorded. This song is very powerful, its catchy melody will have you singing along in no time. Keep It To Myself (Buddy Guy) - A classic Blues - Various Artists track. First Time I Met The Blues (Buddy Guy) - For me, this is the best of the album. I was truly moved when I heard Calling On My Darling (Albert King).
