Blues - Various Artists Elmore James - Chess Blues (1952-1954) - CD2 imageBlues - Various Artists’s debut, ‘Elmore James - Chess Blues (1952-1954) - CD2′, does not fit easily into one genre. After seeing Remember (Alberta Adams), I had to have a good Blues - Various Artists cd. There is so much to love about Blues - Various Artists, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. IT makes me wanna dance!

Hard Time Gettin’ Started (Eddie Boyd) is new, fresh, and hypnotizing. Whose Muddy Shoes (Elmore James) - This one is lively and fun. In Eight Ball (Gus Jenkins) full palet of sound is used by Blues - Various Artists to accentuate the presentation. Untitled Instrumental (Henry Gray and Morris Pejoe) is one of the coolest songs Blues - Various Artists has ever recorded. In this song fans will recognize the unique vocals of Blues - Various Artists. One of the songs that always stick in my mind is Evil (Howlin’ Wolf) because the melody in the chorus is so good. Forty Four (Howlin’ Wolf) is one of the best records ever. Blues - Various Artists breathes new life into the music in Mama Talk to Your Daughter (J. B. Lenoir). Ice Cream Man (John Brim) - Well, here we get a bit more meaning. It’s very catchy and easy to get into which is what you want in a song. Blues with a Feeling (Little Walter) (3:08) a good melody. Don’t Need No Horse (Little Walter) is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after Elmore James - Chess Blues (1952-1954) - CD2 have ended. This track is a killer, it just grabs you instantly. What sets Got to Find My Baby (alternate; Little Walter) apart is Blues - Various Artists’s innovative and organic way of creating atmospheres. Juke (Little Walter) is a very catchy tune. Reconsider Baby (Lowell Fulson) great lyrics, dark, deep, angry and cool.Broken Heart (alternate; Memphis Minnie) stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. Overall a nice softer song. Hoochie Coochie Man (Muddy Waters) is a great song for a cosy night in when it’s cold and wintry outside. Who’s Gonna Be Your Sweet Man When I’m Gone (Muddy Waters) - A strong beat. Funeral Hearse at My Door (Rocky Fuller) marked the continuation of Blues - Various Artists in style evolution. Got to Have It (Willie Mabon) is a cool song and it grows on you. I’m Mad (Willie Mabon) is a song to savor, to listen to from every angle. From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit.
