Self-described as Blues with lots of words, Blues - Various Artists comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. On Little Milton - Chess Blues (1960-1967) - CD4 album, Blues - Various Artists have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. ‘Little Milton - Chess Blues (1960-1967) - CD4′ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. To me Blues - Various Artists is the best band ever.
It took me a little time but I ended up loving First Time I Met The Blues (Buddy Guy). This track is nearly perfect if not perfect. This track is full of harmonies and gets Little Milton - Chess Blues (1960-1967) - CD4 off to a relaxing start. I believe Jinglin’ Baby (Eddie Burns) is one of the most astounding, heartfelt songs ever written. The Sun Is Shining (alternate; Elmore James) have really caught my ear and imagination. I’d Rather Go Blind (Etta James) is perfect. Something’s Got A Hold On Me (Etta James) is simple, dignified and effective, Blues - Various Artists refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. Charming song, great melody. This track makes my mind whirl and vibrate with flowing energy. This track is a great song that still never gets old. Within the first few notes of The Red Rooster (Howlin’ Wolf) it’s perfectly clear that Blues - Various Artists is living this song. One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer (John Lee Hooker) - This one has a powerful beat and a good melody. Wang Dang Doodle (Koko Taylor) makes a person feel gorgeous. This track is just a stunning masterpiece. This track is a killer, it just grabs you instantly. Satisfied (Little Milton) is probably one of Blues - Various Artists’s biggest successes for the album - it’s lovely to listen to. A unique and uplifting song. Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think The Shakedown (Lloyd Glenn) is my favorite song on Little Milton - Chess Blues (1960-1967) - CD4. Blue Shadows (Lowell Fulson) - I just love it. That’s Why I Don’t Mind (Muddy Waters) was the first single release from the album Little Milton - Chess Blues (1960-1967) - CD4. Bring It On Home (Sonny Boy Williamson) very upbeat. Nine Below Zero (Sonny Boy Williamson) is really a nice song to relax and listen too. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. This track is clearly meant to showcase Blues - Various Artists’s vocal abilities.
