Is It Wrong (For Loving You) is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after Detroit City / 500 Miles Away From Home have ended. Bobby Bare breathes new life into the music in Lorina. I loved Shame On Me the first time I heard it. I’d Fight The World is probably one of Bobby Bare’s biggest successes for the album - it’s lovely to listen to. I’ve found myself listening to Dear Wastebasket back to back and back many times. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on Detroit City / 500 Miles Away From Home. I Don’t Believe I’ll fall In Love Today gets you up and jumping. Brooklyn Bridge is almost impossible to review. She Called Me Baby make listening to Bobby Bare like being in some sort of time warp. The Gods Were Angry With Me is a excellent sing-along. Put Book Of Love into car stereo for your highway driving 500 Miles Away From Home is astounding. Homestead On The Farm which is my favorite is a truly Bobby Bare sounding song. Such hits like Let Me Tell You About Mary will leave you hooked. One of the songs that always stick in my mind is Abilene because the melody in the chorus is so good. This track is a fabulous selection of easy listening, suitable for any age, taste or occasion. I like the agression and power of Lynchin’ Party. Worried Man Blues is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. I Wonder Where You Are Tonight is another favourite of mine. Noah’s Ark - For me, this is the best of the album. Within the first few notes of Sailor Man it’s perfectly clear that Bobby Bare is living this song. |titile| is quite refreshing and sets the tone for what is going on in Detroit City / 500 Miles Away From Home. A great put together song.
