This is the first studio album from Boney M since bad diagnosis in 1981. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Boney M on ‘Boonoonoonoos’. This fourteen-song debut EP shows the promise that Boney M has. Another great offering from Boney M.
That’s Boonoonoonoos Train To Skaville I Shall Sing is nothing short of a modern masterpiece. Silly Confusion is perfect. I was truly moved when I heard Ride To Agadir. Jimmy - This one has a powerful beat and a good melody. This track is just fantastic from start to finish. I have all of Boney M’s tracks and We Kill The World (Don’t Kill The World) is probably the most his introspective effort. Homeland Africa (Ship Ahoi) is simple, dignified and effective, Boney M refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. Malaika is the first taste of the new album. All of songs on Boonoonoonoos and have something to say letting alone Consuela Biaz. As always, Boney M’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. Boney M sings Sad Movies in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. When I listen to Goodbye My Friend in my car when traffic ain’t going so good.
