IF YOU LIKE ALL Bud Powell’S SONG GO FOR IT! A Portrait of Thelonious is an amazing album, racked with beauty.Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Bud Powell on ‘Off Minor’. I love this album so much, i’ve been crazy about Bud Powell ever.
Strong percussion and poignant lyrics of this track really gets under your skin. Ruby, My Dear gives good insight into the truths. Charming song, great melody. Thelonious - This one makes me want to not only sing along. Monk’s Mood is maybe the best thing the group’s ever done. Bud Powell emotions are reflected through I Ain’t Foolin’. Outside of the singles, my favorite song on A Portrait of Thelonious is Squatty. The opening track Squatty (Unissued Alternate is very much like you would expect from other albums.
