It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Bud Powell energies, virtually a rebirth. This sixteen-song debut EP shows the promise that Bud Powell has. After seeing Autumn In New York, I had to have a good Bud Powell cd. The Amazing Bud Powell, Vol. 2 is not something you should pass up.
Reets And I is cool and different song. Sure Thing (2:41) - awsome. Collard Greens And Black-Eyed Peas gets you up and jumping. Polka Dots And Moonbeams is, without a doubt, my favorite song, ever. This track makes my mind whirl and vibrate with flowing energy. Audrey - This one is lively and fun. Glass Enclosure is one of the more up-tempo songs on The Amazing Bud Powell, Vol. 2. Listening to I’ve Got You Under My Skin you can hear that Bud Powell has still amazing chemistry with band members. This song stands out greatly from the others. Autumn In New York (alternate take 2) is probably the highlight of the album. Reets And I (alternate take #1) has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. Reets And I (alternate take 2) - another great track from the The Amazing Bud Powell, Vol. 2 album. Sure Thing (alternate take) - A catchy, upbeat tune. As always, Bud Powell’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again.
