This disc has all of the essential Caetano Veloso classics. If I may, I suggest “Hino do Senhor do Senhor do Bonfim [Cateano, Gilberto, Gal , Mutantes] 3′39″. That one song is amazing!
Bat Macumba [Gilberto Gil] 2′33 is an underrated song: I like its lyrics and melody a lot. The opening track Mamae, Coragem [Gal Costa] 3′30 is very much like you would expect from other albums. Enquanto Seu Lobo Nao Vem [Caetano Veloso] is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after Tropicalia ou Panis Et Circensis have ended. I can’t stop humming along Tres Caravelas (Las Tres Carabelas) [Caetano Veloso e Gilberto Gil] 3′06. Baby [Gal Costa e Caetano Veloso] 3′31 presents the perfect mix of instruments on Tropicalia ou Panis Et Circensis. There is exquisite mix of music in Gelia Geral [Gilberto Gil]. Once Parque Industrial [Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, Gal Costa, Mutantes] 3′16 gets in your head, it will NEVER leave. Lindonia - Check out that bassline! Charming song, great melody. Corao Materno [Caetano Veloso] 4′17 is a very catchy tune. Miserere Nobis [Gilberto Gil] 3′44 is the albums biggest surprise.
