Charles Aznavour had quite a long carriere and they made many hits. After debuting at No. 1 last week, Charles Aznavour’s album Olympia 1980 Live (CD1) falls to No. 2 with 810,000, a sales slide of 79%. Lead single “Je N’ai Pas Vu Le Temps Passer” and “Allez Vai Marseille” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Charles Aznavour is one of my favourite bands of all time.
Allez Vai Marseille was the first single release from the album Olympia 1980 Live (CD1). In Le Souvenir De Toi the light shines equally on lyrics, vocals and instrumentation. Mon Ami, Mon Judas marked the continuation of Charles Aznavour in style evolution. Album opener Etre is a bright, upbeat ditty. J’ai Vu Paris is a bit of a show-tune. Bienvenue A L’Olympia is the first taste of the new album. This track is a fabulous selection of easy listening, suitable for any age, taste or occasion. Ca Passe is one of the coolest songs Charles Aznavour has ever recorded. Charles Aznavour sings his heart out in Ave Maria. L’amour Bon Dieu L’amour is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses. Lyrics of Autobiographie are precise and evocative. Mes Emmerdes is a very good song maybe surprisingly better than you at first might’ve imagined. Hier Encore very upbeat. No Charles Aznavour song has come close to capturing my attention as La Boheme did.
