As always, Chico Buarque’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. One listen to the sheer beauty of Cacada was all I needed. This is the most melodic ambitious and satisfying track in Quando O Carnaval Chegar. Music and lyrics of Quando O Carnaval Chegar creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming. It’s so catchy, it’s amazing. Such hits like Soneto will leave you hooked. Mambembe hits the heart. From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit. Partido Alto is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses. Bom Conselho has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. Although Frevo is very melodic it is far from sad. Song Formosa is actually a funny song.
