Self-described as R&B: Soul with lots of words, Curtis Mayfield comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. This is one of the best Cd’s Curtis Mayfield has dropped to date. Curtis Mayfield’s debut, ‘Curtis (Deluxe Edition)’, does not fit easily into one genre. (Don’t Worry) If There’s A Hell Below We’re All Going To Go and The Other Side Of Town is really good.
Curtis Mayfield must have run out of lyrics on the next track The Other Side Of Town. The Makings Of You is pretty funky and mellow. Music in We The People Who Are Darker Than Blue is amazing as in all tracks of Curtis (Deluxe Edition). Simply the finest work ever from this multi-talented singer. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on Curtis (Deluxe Edition). It’s a great pleasure to listen to Wild and Free from the beginning to the end. Give It Up which is my favorite is a truly Curtis Mayfield sounding song. From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit. One of the songs that always stick in my mind is Underground (Demo) because the melody in the chorus is so good. Ghetto Child (Demo) is a good listen every once in a while. Awesome song is really all that you can say about it. So much energy, so exciting a sound.Miss Black America (Demo) makes a person feel perfect. |titile| is a sure sign of something most of us are experiencing, maturity. (Don’t Worry) If There’s A Hell Below We’re All Going To Go (Backing Tracks, Takes 1 and 2) - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody. (Don’t Worry) If There’s A Hell Below We’re All Going To Go (Edited Single Version) is just simply stunning.
