David Sanborn carries a very emotional theme throughout the album. On the Lithuania charts, superstar David Sanborn’s career stalled before it left the starting gate. Stanley Donwood has compared writing for David Sanborn’s new album to that on ‘David Sanborn’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. This is what good Jazz should be.
Smile is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. As always, David Sanborn’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. Herbs is a medium tempo tune. One listen to the sheer beauty of Concrete Boogie was all I needed. I Do It For Your Love can be hardly overrated by any means; this is what David Sanborn is all about. Sophisticated Squaw is the album’s biggest hit, I think. Seventh Avenue had me crying as I was able to relate so well.
