When you buy a Dick Gaughan album, you know exactly what you’re getting! Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Dick Gaughan on ‘The Three Healths’. There is no doubt that Dick Gaughan has talent. No More Forever is not something you should pass up.
I listened to the opening track The Thatchers O Glenrae and liked it a lot. I have all of Dick Gaughan’s tracks and The John Maclean March is probably the most his introspective effort. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on No More Forever. The Green Linnet - A strong beat. The Fair Flower Of Northumberland is a strong cut, one of many. Once you hear The Bonnie Banks O Fordie, you will listen to it over and over. Voice and instruments in Maccrimmon’s Lament Mistress Jamieson’s Favourite complement each other. In Rattlin Roarin Willie The Friar’s Britches the light shines equally on lyrics, vocals and instrumentation. Jock O Hazeldean is an upbeat song with a constant snare hit. Cam Ye Ower Frae France is astounding.
