This album has some very good songs like Quel sangue versato al ciel (Elizabeth, Courtiers) and Che m’apporti? (Elizabeth, Cecil, Sara, Nottingham). This compilation contains all of the biggest hits by Donizetti, Gaetano. Donizetti, Gaetano was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Donizetti, Gaetano and Roberto Devereux together. In Che m’apporti? (Elizabeth, Cecil, Sara, Nottingham) the music gets its power. Vivi, ingrato, a lei d’accanto (Elizabeth) is filled with very deep emotions that will truly touch your heart. E sara in questi orribili mome (Elizabeth, Ladies) marked the continuation of Donizetti, Gaetano in style evolution. After few listenings I started to like Bagnato il sen di lagrime (Robert, Guards) more and more. Only one song from Roberto Devereux named A te diro’ negli ultimi singhiozzi (Robert, Guards) really got me. Ed ancor la tremenda porta (Robert, Guards) actually sounds so joyous, that you can practically see a smile on Donizetti, Gaetano’s face. Non sai che un nume vindice (Nottingham, Sara) is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. I like to sing along with ACT III. Ne riede ancora il mio consorte! (Sara, Servant, Nottingham), though I mess up the lyrics sometimes. Donizetti, Gaetano rocks harder than ever with Va, la morte sul capo ti pende (Elizabeth, Robert, Nottingham, Cecil, Raleigh). Album opener Scellerato!… Malvagio!… (Nottingham, Robert, Elizabeth) is a bright, upbeat ditty. Ecco l’indegno!… (Elizabeth, Raleigh, Robert, Nottingham) is one of those songs that will put you in a good mood. Non venni mai si mesto (Nottingham, Elizabeth) the elegant and beautiful song on the album is hard to describe. You can find feelings on this piece of art. Within the first few notes of Ebben? (Elizabeth, Cecil, Raleigh) it’s perfectly clear that Donizetti, Gaetano is living this song. Opening track ACT II. L’ore trascorrono (Lords, Ladies) shows the best of Donizetti, Gaetano. Dacche tornasti, ahi misera! (Sara, Robert) to me is the best you can get from Donizetti, Gaetano. What sets Tutto e silenzio (Sara, Robert) apart is Donizetti, Gaetano’s innovative and organic way of creating atmospheres. I can’t stop playing Qui ribelle ognum ti chiama (Nottingham, Lords). Music of Duca, vieni… (Cecil, Nottingham, Robert) is gentle, never overbearing. Forse in quel cor sensibile (Nottingham) is one of the best records ever. In Roberto… Che?… fra le tue braccia! (Nottingham, Robert) Donizetti, Gaetano spins a tale you want to hear to the end. Un tenero core (Elizabeth, Robert) is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. Donna reale, a’ piedi tuoi… (Robert, Elizabeth) is another favourite of mine. Although Nunzio son del Parlamento (Cecil, Sara, Elizabeth…) is very melodic it is far from sad. No Donizetti, Gaetano song has come close to capturing my attention as L’amor suo mi fe beata (Elizabeth) did. This track is a fabulous selection of easy listening, suitable for any age, taste or occasion. Donizetti, Gaetano allows each song to breathe and flourish. ACT I. Geme!… pallor funereo (Ladies, Sara) is one of the coolest songs Donizetti, Gaetano has ever recorded. Awesome song is really all that you can say about it.
