Duke Ellington was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Duke Ellington and Piano in the Foreground together. It’s natural for Duke Ellington to take a stab at ‘I Can’t Get Started’ considering her long-professed love for B.B. King. After debuting at No. 1 last week, Duke Ellington’s album Piano in the Foreground falls to No. 2 with 742,000, a sales slide of 62%. Lots of variety between tracks. My favorite is Cong-Go
After you’ve listened to Cong-Go, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. Blues for Jerry great lyrics, dark, deep, angry and cool.Fontainebleu Forest is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. Summertime gives good insight into the truths. It’s Bad to Be Forgotten is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything Duke Ellington released so far. In Hundred Dreams Ago full palet of sound is used by Duke Ellington to accentuate the presentation. Duke Ellington has created something that grabs you by the heart and gets you moving. Vocals of Duke Ellington in Pleadin’ for Love really capture me and are set perfectly to the rhythm. Springtime in Africa is a striking and quite long song. As always, Duke Ellington’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again.
