‘Piano Reflections’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. For older fans Piano Reflections will put a massive smile accross your face. Since Duke Ellington last CD (Piano Reflections) on EMI Records back in 1953, I have felt a massive void in my life. Piano Reflections is the best essence of Duke Ellington.
Retrospection is the most memorable and excellent. B Sharp Blues is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. No Duke Ellington song has come close to capturing my attention as Passion Flower did. Dancers In Love stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. Reflections In D is one of the more up-tempo songs on Piano Reflections. Melancholia (3:20) - Oh, this is one of my favorites! Prelude To A Kiss - I just love it. Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think In A Sentimental Mood is my favorite song on Piano Reflections. Things Ain’t What They Used To Be gives good insight into the truths. All Too Soon presents the exquisite mix of instruments on Piano Reflections. Janet - For me, this is the best of the album. Other tracks are good but your best bet is to stick with Kinda Dukish. Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right. December Blue is a bit different from Duke Ellington stereotypical stuff.
