It’s natural for Duke Ellington to take a stab at ‘Kinda Dukish’ considering her long-professed love for 2 Unlimited. On the Spain charts, superstar Duke Ellington’s career stalled before it left the starting gate. Lead single “Kinda Dukish” and “Rockin’ In Rhythm” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. This is the best album I have heard in a long time
Rockin’ In Rhythm is pretty funky and mellow. On The Sunny Side Of the Street is just simply stunning. The Star-Crossed Lovers is perfect. All Of Me is the albums lead single as well as biggest hit. Theme From ‘ The Asphalt Jungle’ as a highlight of The Great Paris Concert contains a ton of astounding melodies. I like to sing along with Concerto For Cootie, though I mess up the lyrics sometimes. I can’t stop playing Tutti For Cootie. Suite Thursday : Movement 1 is nothing short of a modern masterpiece. Suite Thursday : Movement 2 was the first single release from the album The Great Paris Concert. I loved Suite Thursday : Movement 3 the first time I heard it. Suite Thursday : Movement 4 is a great opener for The Great Paris Concert. Duke Ellington offers the kind of music here that makes you reflect on yourself. The Eighth Veil is probably one of Duke Ellington’s biggest successes for the album - it’s lovely to listen to. Rose Of The Rio Grande (2:39) - Oh, this is one of my favorites! One of the more genuine-sounding songs is Cop Out. Duke Ellington rocks harder than ever with Bula.
