After seeing Algiers November 1, 1954, I had to have a good Ennio Morricone cd. eight years ago, Ennio Morricone briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Street Of Tebes”. This is one of the best Cd’s Ennio Morricone has dropped to date. One of Ennio Morricone’s best albums yet.
Street Of Tebes is absolutely incredible. This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor. This track is clearly meant to showcase Ennio Morricone’s vocal abilities. After you’ve listened to Sorrow In The Casbah, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. Theme Of Ali is an underrated song: I like its lyrics and melody a lot. July 1956-Underground Re-Explodes - To me, this is the best song on the Algiers. Clandestine Marriage has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. I hope to keep hearing Ennio Morricone works for a long time to come. Tortures is such a marvelous and optimistic song that things can get just better.
