This album has some very good songs like A Nun Suit Painted On Some Old Boxes and Centerville. 200 Motels is an amazing album, racked with beauty.Ivan Grach has compared writing for Frank Zappa’s new album to that on ‘200 Motels’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. This album is a scorcher!
Centerville is so unique, as each one of the songs is. Daddy, Daddy, Daddy is a great song for a cosy night in when it’s cold and wintry outside. Dance Of The Just Plain Folks is an upbeat song with a constant snare hit. A great put together song. Music of Dental Hygiene Dilemma is gentle, never overbearing. From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit. Does This Kind Of Life Looks Interesting To You? to me is the best you can get from Frank Zappa. The song feels complete. I’m Stealing The Towels is kind of track that compels you to skip back and drink it in one more time before moving on through 200 Motels. Janet’s Big Dance Number pretty much defines how I feel spiritually. The first time I listened to Little Green Scratchy Sweaters and Corduroy Ponce I was struck by its excellent sound. Simple and heartfelt closing track Lonesome Cowboy Burt closes 200 Motels on a high note. Lucy’s Seduction Of A Bored Violinist and Postlude is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. This track is nearly perfect if not perfect. Motorhead’s Midnight Ranch rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo. Mysterioso - I used to hate this song, but now it’s one of my favorites. Mystery Roach one of the best in my collection. Penis Dimension is a medium tempo tune. Redneck Eats stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. Frank Zappa sings Semi-Fraudulent / Direct-From-Hollywood Overture in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. She Painted Up Her Face - This is a very lively song. This is one of those songs that musicians strive to write and create. I like to sing along with Strictly Genteel (The Finale), though I mess up the lyrics sometimes. The Girl Wants To Fix Him Some Broth - A classic Frank Zappa track. The Girl’s Dream is new, fresh, and hypnotizing. The Lad Searches The Night For His Newts is beautiful, yet underrated track. What sets The Sealed Tuned Bolero apart is Frank Zappa’s innovative and organic way of creating atmospheres. I like the agression and power of This Town Is A Sealed Tuna Sandwich (Prologue). I came to like This Town Is A Sealed Tuna Sandwich (Reprise). Touring Can Make You Crazy is flawed, nonetheless pretty good song. Tuna Fish Promenade - A catchy, upbeat tune. In What Will This Evening Bring Me This Morning it becomes nowhere more obvious that Frank Zappa has yet to define own style. Would You Like A Snack? defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone.
