On Welcome To The Pleasure Dome album, Frankie Goes To Hollywood have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. There is no doubt that Frankie Goes To Hollywood has talent. Lead single “Snatch Of Fury (Stay)” and “Welcome To The Pleasuredome” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Lots of variety between tracks. My favorite is Welcome To The Pleasuredome
This is probably my favorite song on the album. In Relax (Come Fighting) the light shines equally on lyrics, vocals and instrumentation. War (And Hide) is the albums biggest surprise. After few listenings I started to like Two Tribes (For The Victims Of Ravishment) more and more. Frankie Goes To Hollywood has created something that grabs you by the heart and gets you moving. Born To Run - A classic Frankie Goes To Hollywood track. Happy Hi is a song to enjoy for years to come. Frankie Goes To Hollywood is hitting on all cylinders in Wish (The Lads Were Here). Charming song, great melody. It’s such an underrated song. Black Night White Light presents the marvelous mix of instruments on Welcome To The Pleasure Dome. This track is a great song that still never gets old. Put The Power Of Love into car stereo for your highway driving Bang - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody.
