Since completing 1977’s ‘The Beginning’, George Duke fulfilled their contract with EMI Records and where under no obligation to release another album. It’s natural for George Duke to take a stab at ‘The Beginning’ considering her long-professed love for Green Grey. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of George Duke energies, virtually a rebirth. I greatly enjoyed this CD.
Lemme At It is the albums biggest surprise. This song is dynamic and dramatic. Reach For It is possibly the best song George Duke has come up. The song Just For You ending is my favorite… so catchy! Omi (Fresh Water) is really the reason why I recommend buying Reach For It. Best song on the album, love it. Watch Out Baby! is a great song for a cosy night in when it’s cold and wintry outside. Don’t judge Diamonds on the first listening. The End is one of the most beautiful songs ever to grace my stereo. I like to sing along with Bring It On Home, though I mess up the lyrics sometimes.
