I am not a real Instrumental music type of person, but i have to admit ‘A Stranger In My Own Back Yard’ really is amazing. This is one of the best Cd’s Gilbert O’Sullivan has dropped to date. After seeing Number 4, I had to have a good Gilbert O’Sullivan cd. Gilbert O’Sullivan is one of my favourite bands of all time.
Other tracks are good but your best bet is to stick with A Woman’s Place. I like the idea behind No More. It’s So Easy To Be Sad is a song you cannot help but think about at odd moments in your day. Gilbert O’Sullivan sings My Father in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. The Marriage Machine which is my favorite is a truly Gilbert O’Sullivan sounding song. If You Ever is nothing but pure genius. Album opener The Thing Is is a bright, upbeat ditty. The song Just Like Me ending is my favorite… so catchy! Victor E one of the most beautiful songs i’ve ever heard. I Wonder Would You Mind is almost impossible to review. 15 Times (2:21) a good melody. Nothing To Do About Much is the song that really did it for me. Still going through A Stranger In My Own Back Yard and coming to appreciate Can’t Get You To Love Me more and more with every listen. Always Somebody still maintains something of a specific flourish. Happiness Is Me And You defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone. Christmas Song is the funkiest number on the album.
