This is the first studio album from Grateful Dead since bad diagnosis in 1969. There is so much to love about Grateful Dead, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. Lead single “And We Bid You Goodnight” and “Dark Star” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Live-Dead constantly brilliant.
I find myself hearing bits of Dark Star here and there throughout my waking hours. Death Don’t Have No Mercy is the best music that I have heard from anyone in any area of music. Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think Feedback is my favorite song on Live-Dead. Saint Stephen is the albums biggest surprise. Grateful Dead offers the kind of music here that makes you reflect on yourself. Turn On Your Lovelight on Live-Dead is solid and easy to listen to.
