For older fans Vol 20 - Jimmy Raney will put a massive smile accross your face. There is so much to love about Hank Mobley, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. While no new Hank Mobley album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1979 tour in South America. Tuning Notes and Bout You And Me is really good.
Bout You And Me - I used to hate this song, but now it’s one of my favorites. Autumn is simple, dignified and effective, Hank Mobley refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. Hotel Grande’ is, without a doubt, my favorite song, ever. Hank Mobley has astounded me with this amazing track. From the moment you listen to Friends you’re hooked. You can find feelings on this piece of art. Rhythm in Bb is astounding. One of the more genuine-sounding songs is Like Somebody. I hope to keep hearing Hank Mobley works for a long time to come. Groove Blues In F pretty much defines how I feel spiritually. ‘Bout You And Me - Jimmy Plays Solo rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo. Autumn - Jimmy Plays Solo (1:59) - Oh, this is one of my favorites! Hotel Grande - Jimmy Plays Solo hits the heart. Bb Blues For Wes - Jimmy Plays Solo is perfect work of Hank Mobley. A fantastic track full of wonder. Once you hear Nowhere - Jimmy Plays Solo, you will listen to it over and over. Rhythm In Bb - Jimmy Plays Solo (1:15) a good melody. Like Somebody - Jimmy Plays Solo is the albums biggest surprise. Music in Confirmed - Jimmy Plays Solo is marvelous as in all tracks of Vol 20 - Jimmy Raney. Groove Blues In F - Jimmy Plays Solo is beautiful, yet underrated track.
