There is no doubt that Henry Mancini has talent. It has been eleven years Henry Mancini’ last studio CD, “The Hawaiians” which won Array Grammy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. Lead single “Theme From The Hawaiians” and “Auntie’s Theme” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. This album is a scorcher!
In Auntie’s Theme Henry Mancini spins a tale you want to hear to the end. It’s such an underrated song. Henry Mancini has astounded me with this amazing track. It’s also one of those rare songs that touchingly comfort the listener. Fumiko has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. This is the kind of song I think of when I think of Henry Mancini. Streets Of Chinatown - a classic song. I like to sing along with Theme From The Hawaiians, though I mess up the lyrics sometimes. Auntie’s Theme (End Title) is simply exquisite.
