This compilation contains all of the biggest hits by Henry Mancini. There is no doubt that Henry Mancini has talent. Self-described as Instrumental with lots of words, Henry Mancini comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. Smart music for smart people.
Some call Pretty Girls from Visions Of Eight as a quiet invitation of an artist to sit and listen. Spaced Out which is my favorite is a truly Henry Mancini sounding song. I love the melodic melody of Warm Up and to this day it makes me feel good. Soft Flight is the album’s biggest hit, I think. The Race is simple, dignified and effective, Henry Mancini refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. It’s also one of those rare songs that touchingly comfort the listener. I find myself hearing bits of Olympic Village here and there throughout my waking hours. Simply the finest work ever from this multi-talented singer. This track is a fabulous selection of easy listening, suitable for any age, taste or occasion. Musically Theme For The Losers is superior to other tracks in Visions Of Eight. The song Salute To The Olympians (Finale) ending is my favorite… so catchy!
