Since Herb Alpert last CD (Christmas) on Columbia Records back in 1968, I have felt a massive void in my life. Herb Alpert’s debut, ‘Christmas’, does not fit easily into one genre. ten years ago, Herb Alpert briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Jingle Bells”. To me Herb Alpert is the best band ever.
Jingle Bells is one of those songs that will put you in a good mood. My Favorite Things is one of the more up-tempo songs on Christmas. The Christmas Song is a great opener for Christmas. Best song on the album, love it. Sleigh Ride - This one is lively and fun. The Bell That Couldn’t Jingle is the best music that I have heard from anyone in any area of music. Let It Snow marked the continuation of Herb Alpert in style evolution. Charming song, great melody. In Jesu, Joy Of Man’s Desiring Herb Alpert spins a tale you want to hear to the end.
