Now signed to Herb Alpert’s Sparrow Records, the title track from second album “Whipped Cream and Other Delights” leads Herb Alpert’s back-to-school campaign. For older fans Whipped Cream and Other Delights will put a massive smile accross your face. This is the first studio album from Herb Alpert since bad diagnosis in 1965. I greatly enjoyed this CD.
It’s also one of those rare songs that touchingly comfort the listener. All of songs on Whipped Cream and Other Delights and have something to say letting alone Tangerine. This is the most melodic ambitious and satisfying track in Whipped Cream and Other Delights. If you are a Herb Alpert fan, you will love Lemon Tree. Whipped Cream is probably the highlight of the album. The sound in Love Potion #9 is really warm and Herb Alpert’s signature voice is still very much present. Herb Alpert sings his heart out in Le Garbanzo. Ladyfingers is the album’s biggest hit, I think. Simply the finest work ever from this multi-talented singer. In Peanuts Herb Alpert is at his best. In this song fans will recognize the unique vocals of Herb Alpert. Rosemary is the more seemingly obscure song on Whipped Cream and Other Delights that bear up best to repeated listening. This track is a fabulous selection of easy listening, suitable for any age, taste or occasion.
