On At The Village Gate album, Herbie Mann have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. This is the first studio album from Herbie Mann since bad diagnosis in 1964. This seven-song debut EP shows the promise that Herbie Mann has. Lots of variety between tracks. My favorite is Chain Of Fools (bonus track)
Chain Of Fools (bonus track) (10:46) - Oh, this is one of my favorites! Com’in Home Baby is possibly the best song Herbie Mann has come up. It Ain’t Necessarily So is filled with very deep emotions that will truly touch your heart. Memphis Underground (bonus track) is another strong production from Herbie Mann. Vocals of Herbie Mann in Summertime really capture me and are set perfectly to the rhythm.
