After seeing Relato 1, I had to have a good Inti-Illimani cd. While no new Inti-Illimani album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1972 tour in North America. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Inti-Illimani energies, virtually a rebirth. Inti-Illimani is one of my favourite bands of all time.
Vocals of Inti-Illimani in Los Parientes really capture me and are set perfectly to the rhythm. Relato 2 is flawed, nonetheless pretty good song. From the moment you listen to La Infancia you’re hooked. Relato 3 as well as many of songs is a short story in miniature. El Amor without a doubt is the standout song of Canto Para Una Semilla. Relato 4 is a bit of a show-tune. Inti-Illimani is hitting on all cylinders in El Compromiso. Relato 5 is an upbeat song with a constant snare hit. Best song on the album, love it. Relato 6 motivates you to get up and do something to improve your life and the life of others. La Esperanza which is my favorite is a truly Inti-Illimani sounding song. Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right. La Muerte is probably the most interesting track on Canto Para Una Semilla. Nice and different song. There is gorgeous mix of music in Epilogo. I now have Cancion Final as one of my personal favorites.
