It’s natural for Inti-Illimani to take a stab at ‘Alfredo Zitarroza’ considering her long-professed love for KLF. Inti-Illimani had quite a long carriere and they made many hits. Since Inti-Illimani last CD (Primer Festival De La Cancion Popular) on Savoy Records back in 1973, I have felt a massive void in my life. Great Latin right here!
I came to like Isabel Parra. In Marcelo the music gets its power. Musically Tito Fernandez is superior to other tracks in Primer Festival De La Cancion Popular. Obertura is such a amazing and optimistic song that things can get just better. Aparcoa is marvelous work of Inti-Illimani. Rolando Ojeda has a fun tempo. Inti Illimani is nothing short of a modern masterpiece. Flora Margarita (Cuba) is a strong cut, one of many. Outside of the singles, my favorite song on Primer Festival De La Cancion Popular is Agit Prop (Finlandia). I’ve found myself listening to Cesar Isella back to back and back many times. Quilapayun is probably one of Inti-Illimani’s biggest successes for the album - it’s lovely to listen to.
