Lead single “Aces High” and “2 Minutes To Midnight” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. This album has some very good songs like Aces High and 2 Minutes To Midnight. After seeing Aces High, I had to have a good Iron Maiden cd. I wish that “Powerslave” album was instrumental.
Album opener 2 Minutes To Midnight is a bright, upbeat ditty. Losfer Words makes a person feel marvelous. Flash Of The Blade defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone. The Duellists - This one has a powerful beat and a good melody. Back In The Village can be hardly overrated by any means; this is what Iron Maiden is all about. In Powerslave the music gets its power. One of the songs that always stick in my mind is Rime Of The Ancient Mariner because the melody in the chorus is so good.
