Since completing 1974’s ‘Poetic Prediction Of Defeat’, Isao Tomita fulfilled their contract with Mute Records and where under no obligation to release another album. Since Isao Tomita last CD (The Last Days Of Planet Earth ( Tomita Only )) on Mute Records back in 1974, I have felt a massive void in my life. This -song debut EP shows the promise that Isao Tomita has. Poetic Prediction Of Defeat and 7 Years Of Fortune- Visit Of The Black Ship is really good.
Within the first few notes of 7 Years Of Fortune- Visit Of The Black Ship it’s perfectly clear that Isao Tomita is living this song. There is excellent mix of music in 5 Years Of Fortune. A unique and uplifting song. Environmental Pollution is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction. Down The Centuries is nothing but pure genius. Listening to Conference you can hear that Isao Tomita has still amazing chemistry with band members. Simply the finest work ever from this multi-talented singer. The Last Days Of Planet Earth ( Tomita Only ) couldn’t start better than with the up up-beat title track United Couple. I was truly moved when I heard Kita’s Wailing. This is one of those songs that musicians strive to write and create. Sudden Mutation gets you up and jumping. Nishiyama’s Warning motivates you to get up and do something to improve your life and the life of others. Abnormal Weather very upbeat. New Guinea Expedition is so unique, as each one of the songs is. I find myself hearing bits of Giant Animals Raid here and there throughout my waking hours. Mad Demon is simply excellent. Music and lyrics of Living Dead Cavern creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming. Vocals of Isao Tomita in Burial really capture me and are set perfectly to the rhythm. Although Omen Of The End is very melodic it is far from sad. Isao Tomita sings From Mother To Daughter in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. When I listen to Beneath The Cherry Tree In Full Bloom in my car when traffic ain’t going so good. Still going through The Last Days Of Planet Earth ( Tomita Only ) and coming to appreciate Death Of Young People more and more with every listen. Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right. From the moment you listen to Mirage you’re hooked. Eternal Life is filled with very deep emotions that will truly touch your heart. This track is just fantastic from start to finish. Final Nuclear War as a highlight of The Last Days Of Planet Earth ( Tomita Only ) contains a ton of exquisite melodies. Overall a nice softer song. Death Of A Loving Thing -Outtake - This one is what it is: a powerful, primal invitation to love. Eternal Life -Outtake is really the reason why I recommend buying The Last Days Of Planet Earth ( Tomita Only ). Love Theme -Outtake is a striking and quite long song. Main Theme -Record rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo. Love Theme -Record (2:21) - Oh, this is one of my favorites!
