‘8′ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. Since J. J. Cale last CD (8) on Virgin Records back in 1983, I have felt a massive void in my life. IF YOU LIKE ALL J. J. Cale’S SONG GO FOR IT! 8 is preety good and all the songs have a good meaning behind them.
Losers - is a breath or fresh air compared to many previous songs of J. J. Cale. Hard Times - Well, here we get a bit more meaning. Reality is a bit of a show-tune. This track is just a stunning masterpiece. I now have People Lie as one of my personal favorites. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Unemployment, which shows, blatantly, how much J. J. Cale has evolved as a singer. Trouble In The City is probably the most interesting track on 8. This song may be the most meaningful. Livin’ Here Too defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone.
