Duke Ellington and John Coltrane isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. Thom Yorke has compared writing for John Coltrane’s new album to that on ‘Duke Ellington and John Coltrane’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. John Coltrane’s debut, ‘Duke Ellington and John Coltrane’, does not fit easily into one genre. Cool, but I like their other actual stuff better like Duke Ellington and John Coltrane.
Take The Coltrane can be hardly overrated by any means; this is what John Coltrane is all about. Once you hear Big Nick, you will listen to it over and over. Stevie is simple, dignified and effective, John Coltrane refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. All of songs on Duke Ellington and John Coltrane and have something to say letting alone My Little Brown Book. Angelica as well as many of songs is a short story in miniature. The Feeling Of Jazz has a beautifully haunting disco flavor.
