nine years ago, John Lee Hooker briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “House Rent Boogie”. John Lee Hooker had quite a long carriere and they made many hits. It has been nine years John Lee Hooker’ last studio CD, “Endless Boogie” which won Array MTV Music Awards and was nominated for album of the year. (I Got) A Good ‘Un and House Rent Boogie is really good.
House Rent Boogie rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo. Kick Hit 4 Hit Kix U has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. Standin’ At The Crossroads - Well, here we get a bit more meaning. Pots On, Gas On High - A strong beat. We Might As Well Call It Through as a highlight of Endless Boogie contains a ton of amazing melodies. Doin’ The Shout make listening to John Lee Hooker like being in some sort of time warp. A Sheep Out On The Foam is new, fresh, and hypnotizing. I Don’T Need No Steam Heat one of the most beautiful songs i’ve ever heard. I came to like Sittin’ In My Dark Room. This song is very powerful, its catchy melody will have you singing along in no time.
