Lead single “Aspan” and “Blues For L.W.” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. This compilation contains all of the biggest hits by John McLaughlin. Self-described as Jazz: Fusion with lots of words, John McLaughlin comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. Lots of variety between tracks. My favorite is Blues For L.W.
This track is clearly meant to showcase John McLaughlin’s vocal abilities. The Translators is probably the most interesting track on Music Spoken Here. Honky-Tonk Haven is a very good song maybe surprisingly better than you at first might’ve imagined. Viene Clareando on Music Spoken Here is solid and easy to listen to. I find myself hearing bits of David here and there throughout my waking hours. Negative Ions is the album’s biggest hit, I think. Brise De Coeur make listening to John McLaughlin like being in some sort of time warp. Loro is probably one of John McLaughlin’s biggest successes for the album - it’s lovely to listen to.
