This is the first studio album from Johnny Hodges since bad diagnosis in 1960. When you buy a Johnny Hodges album, you know exactly what you’re getting! Since Johnny Hodges last CD (St. Louis Blues) on SixSteps records back in 1960, I have felt a massive void in my life. Such great and happy songs.
St. Louis Blues - A classic Johnny Hodges track. Loveless Love is the first taste of the new album. Squeeze Me - This one is lively and fun. Musically Theodora is superior to other tracks in St. Louis Blues. Cambridge Blues is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot. Johnny Come Lately is pretty funky and mellow. Warm Valley had me crying as I was able to relate so well. Segdoh is one of the best records ever. Song Bouquet Of Roses is actually a funny song. This track makes my mind whirl and vibrate with flowing energy. Snibor one is one of the better boring ones. Such hits like Brute’s Roots will leave you hooked. I now have Big Shoe as one of my personal favorites.
