Souvenirs isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. Lead single “Honeysuckle Rose” and “Night And Day” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. This disc has all of the essential Le Hot Club de France classics. Le Hot Club de France is one of my favourite bands of all time.
Night And Day makes a person feel cool. Sweet Georgia Brown is one of the more up-tempo songs on Souvenirs. Still going through Souvenirs and coming to appreciate Souvenirs more and more with every listen. Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think My Sweet is my favorite song on Souvenirs. Liza (All The Clouds’ll Roll Away) - Okay, I just talked about depth. Stomping At Decca is pretty funky and mellow. Love’s Melody is really the reason why I recommend buying Souvenirs. Daphne - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody. Strong, powerful vocals of Le Hot Club de France in Lambeth Walk are very impressive. Nuages good vocals. H.C.Q. Strut on Souvenirs is solid and easy to listen to. The Man I Love great lyrics, dark, deep, angry and cool.Improvisation No. 2 is a song that definitely grows on you and becomes an album favorite. Undecided - arguably the best track on Souvenirs album. Please Be Kind is so unique, as each one of the songs is. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Nocturne, which shows, blatantly, how much Le Hot Club de France has evolved as a singer. It’s so catchy, it’s amazing. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. Don’t Worry ‘Bout Me is a excellent, simple song by Le Hot Club de France at the top of his game.
